It’s being called the &4;Do-Nothing&4; congress. Now another group of lawmakers will take over.
But how will they handle the same problems&6;
The 113th congress will also be the most diverse – with more women and Latinos than ever before. There are 13 new senators and 82 new members of the House, 35 republicans and 47 democrats.
Illinois is sending 6 freshmen to congress this year, 5 democrats and 1 republican. That’s the largest contingent of newcomers from Illinois in 40 years. Notables include Tammy Duckworth, who defeated Tea-Party-backed Joe Walsh, and Bill Foster who won a close election against incumbent Judy Biggert. Rodney Davis from Taylorville is the only republican freshman from Illinois.
