Chicago is nearing an all-time record for lack of snow. Through Friday, Chicago had .07 inches of snow at O’Hare Airport, according to the National Weather Service.
That’s 7.6 inches below normal for this time of year. The city’s streak of consecutive days without an inch of snowfall at O’Hare stands at 307, the record of 319 was set January 6, 1940.
The last snowfall of an inch or more at O’Hare occurred on February 24.
And WGN meteorologist Tom Skilling says today will be the record-tying 308th straight day with temperatures at or above freezing. That ties a 134-year record dating back to 1878 for the most consecutive days with readings at or above 32-degrees.
