The Northern Illinois University football team took off for Miami Wednesday morning.
The Huskies will face Florida State in the Orange Bowl on New Year’s Day.
They are the first Mid-American Conference team to qualify for a Bowl Championship Series game, but the Seminoles are double-digit favorites. Team members tell WGN news they’re excited about the opportunity, and plan to play a solid, foundational game.
The Northwestern Wildcats also leave for Florida Wednesday. They’ll take on Mississippi State in the gator bowl.
