Illinois will have over one hundred fifty new laws on the books when the New Year begins.
Below is a collection of some of the new, most noteworthy laws:
The state is banning the use of cellphones by drivers in all roadwork zones and within five hundred feet of an emergency scene.
Another law makes sure people who have been convicted of a misdemeanor domestic violence crime are not issued firearm’s owner ID cards. It also improves mental health reporting by courts to Illinois State Police.
There will also be a law that any person convicted of luring a minor will be considered a sexual predator.
Under the current law, suspects must be convicted twice before being declared a sexual predator.
