A Chicago police officer involved in a deadly shooting admits he drank several beers before going work that night, but the dead man’s attorney claims the city waited more than five hours to give him a breathalyzer test.
Video of the incident shows officer Gildardo Sierra firing three shots into Flint Farmer’s back while Farmer lay bleeding on a parkway in the West Englewood on June 7, 2011.
It was Sierra’s third shooting in six months and second fatality.
The police department ruled the Farmer shooting justified, but the Cook County State’s Attorney is looking into it.
Sierra has been stripped of his police powers during the investigation.
