For 32 years the South Shore Drill Team has been wowing crowds at festivals and parades, performing more than a hundred shows every year.
But the performance on January 21st will be the biggest of the team’s rich history when they march in President Obama’s Inaugural Parade.
Team members, who range from age 8 to 22, were thrilled when they got the news.
“It’s a great honor, I’m just so speechless,” said Dontay Reese.
Four years ago, the team applied to perform during Obama’s first inaugural parade but they didn’t make the cut.
In May, the South Shore Drill Team performed for First Lady Michelle Obama and the NATO spouses she was hosting.
The team is known not only for their thrilling performances, but also performance in the classroom. In June, 100% of seniors on the team graduated high school.
