A controversial new ad campaign is launching in Chicago.  It’s called “My Jihad” and the ads are circulating on Chicago buses.  It’s an effort from The Chicago office of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR-Chicago).

The “My Jihad” campaign was founded by Executive Director Ahmed Rehab.

The goal is to share, what Rehab calls “The true meaning of Jihad” that is believed and practiced by the majority of Muslims.

Jihad is a central tenet of the Islamic creed which means struggling uphill in order to get to a better place.

The campaign includes putting up public ads on buses and trains as well as social media component on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, where users are asked to use the #MyJihad hashtag.

The group hopes to follow up with similar campaigns in New York, DC, San Francisco, Houston and Seattle.
