Does Chicago have a PR problem? If you live here, you might think so.
We are bombarded almost daily with headlines and news reports about people killing each other. Chicago`s murder rate was set to break records until the police department implemented a new gang violence plan this summer.
Still the murder rate is high and more violence could mean less tourists, who are crucial to the local economy.
So Mayor Emanuel formed a department to combat the negative press. It`s called Choose Chicago and it has a yearly budget of $27 million dollars.
But can the city`s new tourism gurus overcome all the concerning headlines?

Reports like that are definitely going to hurt tourism in any state or country. Magnificent sights and comfortable hotels are no reason to risk your safety.
