An man in the Uptown neighborhood saved a woman from an assault early Sunday morning.
Tim Schawbow was getting home from work in the 4400 block of North Sheridan Rd around 1:30 a.m.
“I heard a woman yelling for help and came downstairs,” he said. “I saw a guy on top of her. I called the police once I realized what was going on. And when the police got here he tried taking off and I ended up taking him to the ground. “
Police stepped in to grab the suspect and took him into custody.
The woman was just coming home herself when she was attacked on the sidewalk.
On an Uptown neighborhood facebook page, Tom is being praised for his actions and coming to the aide of the victim. She is certainly roughed up but her life spared, because someone she didn’t even know until now, took a stand.

Good thing he was there cause the cops weren't.

That's rubbish. The guy did nothing but call the police. Fortunately, they turned up quickly (apparently), and, unusually, did their jobs.
AFTER the attack, the so-called "good samaritan" bothered to do something, knowing the cops were there anyway.
As the so-called "good samaritan" said, the man was trying to rape the woman, yet the so-called "good samaritan" decided to wait until the police arrived (even though the best forces usually take minutes), seemingly letting the woman be sexually assaulted for all that time instead of bothering to intervene even once he'd called the police.
Also whoever runs this website, there's a reason you have so few comments – most people will immediately click the back button when a website automatically plays a video. Those people who may think about staying around will also leave if they can't even pause or mute the video. Simple logic.
