Sentencing has been postponed for the man convicted of murdering his wife and their three children.
Christopher Vaughn, 37, of Oswego was to be sentenced Monday, but the Will County judge postponed unitl Tuesday while he considered a motion for a new trial.
Earlier Monday, the judge heard the defense’s argument for a new trial citing another high profile case, the Drew Peterson case. Vaughn’s attorney said Vaughn did not get a fair trial because intense media coverage of the Peterson trial tainted his client’s case.
Vaughn was on trial at about the same time Peterson’s trial was happening this past summer. Both were accused of killing their wives and their trials took place in courtrooms next to each other.
