“Caught in the Sweep of History: Egypt and the Civil War:1861-1865,” tells the dramatic story of General John A. Logan and the battle to keep strategically important Southern Illinois in Union hands.

For the next four years, this in-depth series will follow the progression of events during the war, examining the actions of Logan and Ulysses Grant and how the pair maneuvered to keep the town of Cairo from falling to the rebels, maintaining crucially-important access to the Mississippi and Ohio rivers.
